NRA Releases New Ad Doubling Down On Armed School Guards Nationwide
National Rifle Association leader Wayne LaPierre shocked the country when, in the wake of the Sandy Hook massacre, he suggested that every school should have armed guards. Now, the NRA released an ad slamming President Obama for opposing their proposal suggesting an armed guard in every school in America, despite having armed security (Secret Service) for his kids.

Of course they aren’t more important, but they are operating under significantly different circumstances than the vast majority of American kids. Specifically, most kids’ parents aren’t on the receiving end of death threats.
It is important to note the distinction between children who should be able to reasonably expect to be safe at school and children of world leaders whose lives are in moreso in danger just by virtue of being the child of the President of the United States.
Or, you could make a reductive Ad that fails to distinguish the different circumstances faced by average American Children vs. the President’s children.

Pelosi Slams Colbert in New Attack Ad
Stephen Colbert is back in the real game of politics, unlimited donations, after a brief stint running for President of South Carolina. Today, Nancy Pelosi released a vicious ad full of hate because she is jealous of all of the money Colbert SuperPAC has raised.

It’s obvious that Pelosi, who is still mad about losing Speaker of the House to a human orange, is taking her anger out on the popular cable television host. She even implies certain things about Colbert’s sexuality.

This is a new low for Pelosi. It’s bad enough to attack someone who isn’t even running for office, but doing it while his TV show is on break is ever worse. He can’t even defend himself on his own TV show until he gets back.

Michigan Senate Candidate Tries to Bring Back Yellow Peril in Super Bowl Ad
Pete Hoekstra is the Republican candidate for the Senate. He is running against incumbent Democratic Senator Debbie Stabenow. Apparently he likes puns AND xenophobia, so he aired this brand new ad during the Super Bowl.
In the video, an asian woman speaks in broken engrish about how Debbie Stabenow will spend government money to send jobs to China.
“Your economy get very weak, ours get very good” - What Hoekstra thinks Asians talk like.
While she does speak in broken engrish, she has no accent. This was likely done because Hoekstra wanted to make sure that everyone could understand the xenophobic caricature in the ad.
From a strategic standpoint, I can see why Hoekstra would think this is effective he probably just watched Who Killed Vincent Chin? and thought that yellow peril would be a great foundation for his campaign.

Hoekstra’s plan contained two major flaws. First, it’s no longer the 1980’s, and second, He’s in the same party as likely GOP Presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who famously wrote an op-ed advocating for the government to “let the car companies die.” A bad Presidential candidate can hurt turnout for candidates of the same party in state and local elections.
At the end of the day, Hoekstra has started off on a bad, racist, xenophobic foot. It will be interesting to see if he keeps at it, potentially appearing in blackface, or backs away slowly and tries to rebrand his campaign as something else.
I am interested to see if Michelle Malkin writes an op-ed slamming Hoekstra for daring to give her #1 Asian GOP figure spot to what looks like an unpaid/paid intern.
